  • There is a 6pm slot at Woodsies this year that does not currently have an act
  • William Hill suspended betting on Kasabian after an influx of bets on the indie band
  • Britpop icons Pulp are +150 to take the slot after similar rumours circulated last year
  • Kings of Leon could also make an appearance and seem to have left a cryptic clue

Back at Worthy Farm

Glastonbury 2024 is just around the corner. The music festival will take place in the last weekend of June at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England.

The vast majority of the lineup came out earlier this year and features such acts as Coldplay, Dua Lipa, SZA, Shania Twain, LCD Soundsystem, Idles, The National, and plenty of others. Organizers have just released the full schedule, but fans have noticed that there are a few gaps where acts are still to be confirmed.

This isn’t a strange occurrence for Glastonbury. The festival typically has a couple of surprises for those in attendance. Last year for instance, Foo Fighters performed under the moniker The Churnups, while Rick Astley and Blossoms also teamed up for a secret set of The Smiths covers.

fans are speculating over one particular slot at Woodsies at 6pm on Saturday

As the festival draws closer, fans are speculating over one particular slot at Woodsies at 6pm on Saturday. It’s a slot that could easily go to a major band, and William Hill is offering odds on who that might be. In fact, the sportsbook has had to suspend betting on favourites Kasabian after an influx of bets.

Here are the odds for the top three bands that could take that spot.

Kasabian: Betting Suspended

Serge Pizzorno’s indie rock band Kasabian are the frontrunners to take the Woodsies slot at +300 with William Hill before the operators suspended betting. Fans were convinced they would play Glastonbury after they began posting festival clips to social media over the past few weeks.

Kasabian are veterans of the UK festival scene by now. Since the early 2000s, you probably would have made good money if you bet on Kasabian appearing on the lineup of any major festival in the country on any given year. Glastonbury is no exception to that. Pizzorno and co first played Worthy Farm in 2004 and headlined ten years later in iconic fashion:

Since then, the band has changed considerably having lost its front man Tom Meighan after a string of allegations surfaced against the star. Pizzorno has stepped in to fill his shoes, and the band is just about to release its new album Happenings on July 5 following 2022’s Alchemist’s Euphoria.

Pulp: +150

Britpop legends Pulp are next up in the odds at +150 with William Hill. Jarvis Cocker’s outfit were linked to secret sets at Glastonbury last year too but they never made an appearance. Many thought The Churnups could be interpreted as a Pulp synonym, but that didn’t turn out to be the case.

The band reunited in 2023 for a series of concerts, their first since 2012

Pulp, who have seven studio albums in their repertoire, have headlined the Pyramid Stage twice before. This was before they took a decade-long break from performing in 2001. The band reunited in 2023 for a series of concerts, their first since 2012.

Many would love to see Pulp back for a secret set in 2024 and a 6pm Woodsies slot does sound perfect for that return. They did make a surprise appearance at The Park stage in 2011 and 2024 marks 30 years since they first played Glastonbury.

Kings of Leon: +200

Many still remember when American rockers Kings of Leon headlined the Pyramid Stage in 2008. They are now among the favorites to join the roster of Worthy Farm again in 2024, this time in a secret set. They are at odds of +200 to play this year.

There might be a little more to this rumour than others on our list. In February, Kings of Leon posted a clip of them at the festival with the caption “So close you can smell it.” While this might refer to the television host’s strange flirty comments in the video, many believe it is a hint that they will be performing in 2024:

The band released their newest album Can We Please Have Fun on May 10, 2024. Its their ninth studio album.
