Adapting to changing circumstances

The iGaming software provider and white-label solutions firm EveryMatrix is optimizing its esports offering as sports betting continues to see massive declines due to the coronavirus.

EveryMatrix first started supporting esports betting in 2019 through its OddsMatrix Sports Betting Software Solutions service. The technology helps gambling operators to get started with offering esports betting markets to customers.

sports betting continues to see massive declines due to the coronavirus

With most major sporting events being canceled across the world amid the ongoing pandemic, sportsbook operators are looking at alternative methods to continue generating revenue. The ongoing esports events market is now being looked at as a potential economic driver.

Optimizing its offering

The OddsMatrix service has now been enhanced with an Esports Hosted Solution. This offering enables operators to simply add esports betting to their platform’s menu or tab system.

OddsMatrix will completely take care of the hosting and management of this section for customers. It will only take two weeks for the software provider’s esports solution to be integrated into sportsbooks and mobile apps.

A wide range of options

EveryMatrix’s esports betting offering includes more than 8,000 different events one can bet on each month. 5,000 of these will have live betting markets. More than 90% of the events can also be live-streamed. Some of the popular games that bettors can place wagers on are League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), NBA2K, and FIFA.

EveryMatrix Group’s CEO, Ebbe Groes, said:

For esports, we’ve seen an enormous increase in turnover in the past weeks, and we’re expecting to see the numbers go up even more.”

EveryMatrix has also been focusing on virtual sports, expanding its offering last week. The software firm has virtual sports options available through the likes of Betradar, Kiron, Golden Race, Leap Gaming, NSoft, and Global Bet.

Crossing over into mainstream

Groes sees the recent uptrend as a sign that esports is now ready to become part of the mainstream. He said regular bettors may start to develop an interest in esports alongside computer games enthusiasts.

He cited popular sports games like NBA2K and FIFA as being ideal crossover points for sports fans. Along with virtual sports offerings, esports betting can provide badly needed revenues to sportsbooks going forward.

Sportsbooks innovating

Many leading sports betting companies have seen their share price tumble in recent weeks with cancellation after cancellation of major sports events. Everything from the English Premier League and NBA seasons to the Summer Olympics has been postponed.

Sportsbooks have been grasping at straws to continue generating revenue as the COVID-19 virus continues to spread worldwide. Obscure sporting events are taking in significant sums. Markets allowing bets on the weather and predictions on coronavirus restrictions are now on offer.
